Celebrate National Hamburger Day on May 28th

Published by Andy at 12:28 pm under Food, Wine & Beer News

As if the burger doesn’t get its due here the other 364 days of the year, May 28th is officially National Hamburger Day.  Make the most of it by checking out the following deals at some well-known NYC establishments.  The new outpost of Rare Bar & Grill  in the Fashion 26 Hotel (151 W. 26 St.) is offering your choice of the Original “Louis’ Lunch” (I’ve actually had the original Louis’ Lunch burger in New Haven) or their Signature Cheeseburger, both served with fries and a beer for $20.10.   An even better deal is to be had at The Parlour Midtown (247 W. 30th St.), where they’re offering their proprietary La Frieda blend short-rib and brisket burger, with a draft beer and fries for only $10. That’s a heckuva deal!  You can also celebrate National Hamburger Day in boozy fashion over at Jerry’s Cafe in Tribeca (90 Chambers St.), where from 5 to 7pm, they serve unlimited Angus-beef sliders and cans of PBR for $20 (2 hour time limit).  If you’re looking for a non-traditional burger, my best burger of the year so far was this past weekend at Agua Dulce in Hell’s Kitchen (802 9th Ave.), where Exec Chef Ulrich Sterling is doing a LaFrieda burger (chuck, short rib and brisket) with house-pickled chilies, red onions, fresh avocado and Chihuahua cheese.  This burger (pictured above) will blow your mind!  You heard it here first.  National Hamburger Day just so happens to coincide with Jill’s Mom’s birthday — so we may be hitting up The Blazer Pub for Westchester’s best burger. We’ll keep you posted as we hear of other National Hamburger Day deals.

UPDATE:  Duke’s (99 E. 19th Street and 560 Third Ave) will be offering $1 Bud and Bud Light drafts with the purchase of any hamburger (or cheeseburger) and Big Daddy’s (3 locations) will be offering 1/2 price for any milkshake with the purchase of any burger.

Bar Henry (90 W. Houston St.) is offer those who order a Hamburger Henry (LaFrieda belend burger w/ Valdeon blue cheese, Caramelized Onions, and Truffle Fries – $16.00) any beer for just $3.00 (usually $6-8.00, including Blue Point Toasted Lager, Green Flash West Coast IPA, and more) or a glass of red wine (Heron Terra Alta ‘Sexto’) for just $5.00 (usually $10.00).

Not sure if this one is in honor of National Hamburger Day, but it’s too good a deal not to mention here. Anytime Late Night Comfort Food in Brooklyn is offering their 1/2 lb Black Angus Burger (usually $9.95) for just $2 (limit 2 per order).  Simply order by phone and ask for the $2 half pound Black Angus burger.

BLT’s GoBurger Truck is offering a special lunch deal today from 12-4pm: classic burger, fries & shake for $10. They’ll be parked at the South Street Seaport.
