A Trio of New Brunches Hit NYC: 1 Boozy, 1 Lebanese & 1 Wine Bar
It’s been a big week on the brunch front. Not sure how we missed this one considering it’s our beat, but they’re doing a ridiculously boozy all-you-can-drink brunch at Agua Dulce (802 9th Ave). Add $20 to your brunch entree (items from $9; menu here) for two hours of all you can drink cocktails. And we’re not just talkin’ mimosas, bellinis and bloody mary’s here. Also part of the unlimited drink special are 3 varieties of frozen margaritas (pomegranate, regular and passion fruit), 2 varieties of frozen martinis (apple and watermelon) and 2 varieties of frozen mojitos (traditional and passion fruit). In other brunch news, ilili (236 5th Ave) has launched what they’re calling NYC’s first Lebanese-American brunch (Sat-Sun 12-3 pm). The new menu features a number of innovative takes on Lebanese and NYC favorites and is available a la carte or prix fixe for $25, which is served with a glass of Pomegranate Cava, Bellini, or Mimosa. They had me at the Truffle Eggs Benedict with truffle hollandaise and served with hash brown dumplings (full menu here). Philippe Massoud — we will be seeing you very soon for brunch, my friend. Kudos for all you have done on the Haiti Relief front! While you may not think of having brunch at a wine bar, The Tangled Vine Wine Bar & Kitchen (434 Amsterdam Ave) has launched a new brunch (Sat & Sun 11 am -3 pm) that may just change your mind. Brunch features a special cocktail menu with a spicy Organic Smoked Bloody Mary, the Pera Espumosa (cava, kabinett riesling, brandy, pear nectar and fresh cinnamon) and the El Alba (sparkling wine, grapefruit juice and Gus cranberry lime soda). Food-wise, in addition to all the brunch classics, they also have a Grilled Fried Oyster Sandwich with spicy citrus remoulade, Tortilla Espanol, a Spanish potato and egg omelet, a Lamb Burger with yogurt and dill marinated cucumbers and feta cheese, and Lobster Montaditos, 1-lb Maine lobster sliders with riesling aioli. Full menu here.
