Luckyrice Asian Food Festival (April 29-May 2)
LUCKYRICE is launching a 4-day Asian food festival this month, including a grand tasting at the Mandarin Oriental, an Asian-inspired opening night cocktail party at the Bowery Hotel and a Night Market hosted by Chef David Chang (sold out). The LUCKYRICE Festival will take place from Thursday, April 29th to Monday, May 2nd and will be followed by LUCKYRICE Restaurant + Bar Week from Wednesday, May 3rd to Sunday, May 9th. At this ultimate food celebration, travel and feast your way through Asia’s diverse cuisines and cultures without leaving the magnificent Mandarin Oriental ballroom overlooking Central Park. Over 20 acclaimed chefs–including those from the LUCKYRICE Culinary Council as well as visiting chefs from Asia–will create special tastings that reflect their artistry while celebrating the flavors of Asia. Hosted by Emmy award-winning journalist Lisa Ling, this gathering will artfully present curated pavilions of food and drink while entertaining guests with surprise spectacles intersecting Asian fashion, music and art.
Many of LUCKYRICE’s Culinary Council star chefs—including Daniel Boulud, Floyd Cardoz, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Michael “Bao” Huynh—will be personally cooking at the Grand Feast. - 1st course: Salad of Mango with Roasted Hudson Valley Duck
- 2nd course: Curry Laksa, a traditional Northeastern Malay noodle and fish soup in a flavorful coconut broth
- 3rd course:Halibut with Malaccan Pineapple CUrry
- 4th course: Short Rib Rendang, slow cooked beef short ribs in an aromatic curry sauce, complemented with coconut rice
