Lately it seems many of the offers from NYC deal sites are for second-rate restaurants that are on the brink of closing and desperate for customers.  That’s why I almost had to do a double-take when I saw that BlackboardEats has an offer right now for 30% off brunch or dinner at Perilla (9 Jones St).  This is a legit, top-notch restaurant on a quiet tree-lined street in the not-so-west West Village.  It gets a 25 for food in Zagat, which describes the restaurant as a “standout” Villager.  In fact, you may recognize Executive Chef  Harold Dieterle as the winner of the inaugural season of Top Chef.  You would expect an offer like this to have a long list of restrictions, but the only limitations are (i) max party size of 4, (ii) dine-in only, (iii) not valid with tasting menus and (iv) not valid for brunch on Mother’s Day (May 9).  These are quite fair, though I was really hoping you could use the deal with the $70/person tasting menu.   Also, you must use the 30% off by May 27, 2010.  No problem there.  This one’s a no-brainer.
