Happy St. Patty’s Day!
I awoke to the Today show reporting that the White House fountain had been dyed green, and as I walked to work, I passed hordes of revelers with shamrock sweatshirts and felt green hats. It must be St. Patrick’s day…one of the best beer drinking (and drinking in general) holidays of the year! Last year, we celebrated the Irish in everyone at the East Village Tavern. It was the perfect spot for amazing craft beers and some true Irish festivity (with a special guest appearance from the FDNY Emerald Society pipes and drums- it is owned in part some of New York’s Bravest). This year we are off to celebrate our friend’s birthday and St. Patrick’s Day at Legends (6 West 33rd). Here are some other St. Patty’s destinations where you can kick back, down a few pints of Guinness, and enjoy the day…
The Stag’s Head (252 E. 51st at 2nd Ave): It’s almost always happy hour here (11am-7pm) where most craft beers are $4 and well drinks are also $4. But the deal to be had until 5pm is the $10 burger + beer special. The outdoor patio will be open today. They’ll also be serving corned beef n cabbage, green wings, live DJ, plus specials on Victory Donnybrook and Harpoon Celtic Ale. No better place in Midtown to drink good beer outside!
Rattle ‘n’ Hum (14 E. 33rd b/t 5th and Madison): Our favorite beer bar in the city will be serving up Irish craft beer and Irish-American style Craft beer all day and for the remainder of the week. Oh yeah, and bag-pipers, drink specials, Corned Beef ‘N’ Cabbage and all the O’Hara’s Irish Stout and Jameson you can imagine.
Village Pourhouse (64 3rd Ave): Celebrating with $1 drafts, $2 bottles, $3 well drinks, $4 jameson shots…all day!
Sunburnt Cow & Sunburnt Calf (137 Ave C; 226 W. 79th St): Starting at 2pm with free shots and their famous $20 2-hour all you can drink happy hour + free food.
East Village Tavern (158 Ave C): The party gets started at 11:30am and it doesn’t end. $5 jameson, $5 guinness and $6 car bombs!
Redemption (1003 2nd Ave): Get fratty with kegs & green eggs, $4 bud light drafts, baby Guinness shooters, and $6 corned beef sandwiches.
Southern Hospitality (1460 2nd Avenue): $2 Coors Light drafts, $3 Killians, $3 well drinks, $4 Jameson shots, and $5 Irish car bombs.
Van Diemens (383 3rd Avenue): $5 Jameson and $3 Guinness pints until 5pm.
Stanton Public (17 Stanton Street): $4 pints of Guinness all night long + $1 off all Irish whiskey and a late happy hours from 12-2am.
The Brazen Head (228 Atlantic Ave): $5 Guinness pints all day and night, $6 Jameson, Powers, Bushmills & Tullamore Dew & Complimentary Corned Beef Sandwiches at 5pm
