NYC Restaurants & Bars Step Up Relief Efforts For Haiti

It’s amazing to see the huge outpouring of support for Haiti from NYC’s restaurant and bar scene.  Some are even donating up to 50% of their gross proceeds for the Red Cross and other charities to help feed, clothe, and pay for medications.  Tonight, Hearth will donate 50 percent of gross revenues to help fund the relief effort.  Here is a list of the other relief efforts being coordinated by the restaurant and bar industry in and around NYC…

DINE OUT FOR HAITI:

Philippe Massoud of Restaurant Ilili has organized the largest coordinated effort so far with “Dine Out for Haiti”.  On Sunday, January 24th (some restaurants participating Monday, January 25th) participating restaurants will contribute 10 percent of their sales to charities specifically targeted to Haiti.  Some servers have also agreed to donate 5 percent of their tips that night.  So check out the following list of participating restaurants and support a great cause (and also be sure to tip at least an extra 5% for the donating servers).

OTHER RELIEF EFFORTS BY NYC RESTAURANTS & BARS:

Knife + Fork in the East Village has said 20 percent of sales and tips on January 20 will go toward relief efforts.

The Bell House in Brooklyn has planned “Strength Through Unity: A Benefit for the Victims of the Earthquake in Haiti”, an entertainment and live music event scheduled to be held on January 27th with all proceeds going toward the relief effort.  Performers include Jimmy Fallon, Ted Leo and many more.  Purchase $50 tickets here.

On January 25, Alto, Marea, and Convivio will be donating 10 percent of that evening’s proceeds to the United Nations World Hunger Program.

Boqueria partnered with Doctors Without Borders (MSF – Médecins Sans Frontières) to help raise funds for
medical support and disaster relief. Boqueria’s Ownership and Staff has committed to contributing $2,000 to MSF and is looking for support from patrons to reach a total goal of $5993 to purchase an emergency medical kit to meet the basic needs of 1000 people struck by disaster.  So far, Boqueria has raised $4,255 and only needs $1,738 left to reach its goal.

Every Monday night in February, Yerba Buena, Yerba Buena Perry, and Toloache will donate 10% of dinner profits to @PIH_org.

Schnipper’s Quality Kitchen will be donating 10% of its sales this Sunday, January 24th to Haitian Relief Funds.

City Winery is hosting 4 nights of Emergency Benefit Concerts: Wednesday, Jan. 20, Thursday, Jan. 21, Sunday, Jan. 24 and Monday, Jan. 25.  Performers include Patti Smith, Yo La Tengo and many more.  Check out the confirmed artists hereFelix Augustin, Haiti’s Consul General in NY will join on Wednesday, Jan. 20th.  City Winery is looking to raise $100,o00.  100% of funds raised from these benefits will be directed to Doctors Without Borders, Partners in Health and an emergency mobile hospital aid mission organized by the Jewish Renaissance Medical Center.  Get your tickets here.

dell’anima and L’Artusi are donating 2.5% of all their sales this week to the Clinton Foundation Haiti Relief Fund.

In order to help the cause, Astor Wine Center has added an “Elements of Wine” class to its calendar on Monday, January 25th, and will pass on 100% of ticket sales to support the relief effort.  Click here for tickets and more info.

RESTAURANTS THAT HAVE ALREADY CONTRIBUTED TO HAITI:

The Harrison & The Red Cat are both donating 10% of their profits from Sun 1/17 & Mon 1/18 dinner service  to The Red Cross for disaster relief to the victims in Haiti.

Tre donated 100% of its dessert sales from 1/18 to The Red Cross.
