Barbounia’s Sausage, Apple & Beer Festival: OCT 21-31
From October 21-31, Barbounia (Park Ave South b/t 19th St and 20th St) is celebrating a Sausage, Apple and Beer Festival in honor of Oktoberfest festivities, with a Mediterranean twist. They’re offering a $38 three-course Sausage, Apple & Beer Menu comprised of Oktoberfest-inspired dishes. Appetizers include Tart Sablée of Black Olive w/Onion Compote, White Truffle Oil and Wild Boar Sausage, Fresh Fig & Bresaola Salad w/ Arugula Herbs, Pecorino, Olives and Fennel and Grilled Jumbo Asparagus w/ Berkshire Bacon, Crispy Poached Egg, Pine Nuts and Melted Parmesan Cheese. Entrees include Pork Belly Confit with roasted shallots, caramelized apples and beer sauce; Filet of Snapper with anise, tomato risotto, seafood sausage and eggplant; or Spanish Mackerel Confit with gnocchi, mussels, spicy Italian sausage, tomato broth, dry mint, fennel and quiche toast. Finally for dessert patrons can choose between Apple Tart Tatin served with vanilla ice cream or Bitter Valrhona, a chocolate finger served with smoked bacon and chocolate sorbet. In addition to some festive German beers, Barbounia will be serving a belly-warming Apple Cinnamon Cider with Brandy to warm up customers as the weather cools.
