It’s a perfect Fall day to walk around the East Village and drink lots of free wine. Thrillist has put together a great tour of wine shops and bars that are offering free tastings today. Start at Union Square Wines (4th Ave @ 13th St.), where from 2-5pm, they are offering nearly three dozen pours from Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Carneros. Taste through nearly three dozen offerings from cult producers and perennial allstars including Scholium Project, Hirsch Vineyards, Flowers, Robert Sinskey, Orin Swift, Shelter Wine Co. Next, it’s on to Astor Wines (Lafayette at 4th Ave), where from 3-5 pm they’ll be pouring some French wines and some rum samples. Now, it’s time to move east and head to Tinto Fino, a Spanish boutique wine shop at 85 1st Ave. nr E. 5th St., and try some Basque wines that they’ll be pouring between 4-7pm. Moving towards the Lower East Side, your next stop is at Discovery Wines (Avenue A at Houston) for some tastes of Chile (6-9pm). If you have anything left in you, finish up at September Wines (Stanton @ Ludlow) to try a Rioja and a Sauvignon Blanc (6-9pm).
