We learned this afternoon that Ancora Ristorante, an old-school Italian in the Financial District, has just started offering complimentary appetizers and grappa with lunch and dinner. You will be offered complimentary bites at the start of your meal, such as crisp zucchini fries with red pepper flakes, platters of soppresatta, chunks of imported parmesan and cured Italian peppers. Then, after your meal, whether you opt for dessert or not, your waiter will wheel over a table of complimentary homemade Grappas, Annisettes and Sambucas for you to select from. Not bad.
