Top-Rated Restaurant Specials

Many of the city’s top-rated restaurants have been offering great specials to make themselves more approachable. A multi-course dinner for 2 with wine at the likes of a La Grenouille (pictured) or Daniel doesn’t have to be $300+ these days. Here’s a list of the best deals being offered by some of the city’s most expensive and highest Zagat-rated establishments (all with a Zagat rating of at least 24 for Food):

Alto – Through September 2009, allowing diners to bring one 750 ml. bottle per table at no charge. 11 East 53rd St b/t Madison & 5th Ave; 212-308-1099.

Asiate – On Mon-Sat through August 15th, offering a 3-course “Taste of Summer Menu” for $45 (additional $30 for wine pairing). 80 Columbus Circle; for reservations, call (212) 805 8881 or visit OpenTable.com.

Aureole – Offering a 15% discount on all menus until the grand opening benefit gala for Citymeals-on-Wheels, September 15, 2009. One Bryant Park; 212-319-1660.

Cafe Boulud – No corkage fee on Sunday and Monday for diners who order 3 courses. $50 off any wine over $200.
Every Sunday and Monday through August 15th. Reservations must be made after 8:30pm and only 1 bottle per couple. 20 E 76th St.; (212) 772-2600.

Daniel – Three course menu with free wine pairings for $98 per person (Usually $105 without wine). Mon – Thurs, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM; 60 East 65th St., 212-288-0033.

Del Posto — Offering an off-the-menu $35 4-course prix fixe in the Enoteca every night but Saturday. Have to ask for it. 85 Tenth Ave; 212-497-8090.

Dovetail — Offering a $38 Sunday Suppa. 103 W. 77th St; 212-362-3800.

Eighty One — Eco(nomy)-Friendly Menu gets you an appetizer + entree for $30.81 (extra appetizer just $8.10). Soon will be opening a more casual concept in the bar called Grill ‘81′ with a $9 burger and a big-screen tv — check out the menu here. 45 W. 81st St; 212-873-8181.

Felidia — Currently running two special menu deals. The “Dinner for 2 For Under $100″ is a 3-course dinner that comes with a bottle of Bastianich wine and it is available Mon-Fri from 4:30-6:15pm and again after 9pm. Felidia has also introduced a “Small Bites Menu” available Sun-Fri through Labor Day. Menu highlights include a tasting of your choice of 3 pastas for $21 and choice of 3 assaggini for $21. 243 E. 58th St. b/t 2nd and 3rd; 212-758-1479.

The Four Seasons — Still offering the 50th Anniversary 3-course $59 prix fixe menu. 99 E. 52nd b/t Park & Lex; 212-754-9494.

Gotham Bar and Grill – In honor of its 25th anniversary, Gotham is serving a number of classic dishes, popularized by at their original 1980s prices. Every Sunday through Labor Day; 12 East 12th St., 212-620-4020.

Hearth — Offering a $35 3-course Cucina Povera menu every night. $15 for wine pairing. 403 E. 12th St nr 1st Ave; 646-602-1300.

La Grenouille This could be the deal of the century! Before 6:30 and again after 9pm on Mon-Sat, La Grenouille is offering a 3-course prix-fixe for just $49 and it is just an additional $21 to add a 3-wine pairing. E. 52nd b/t Madison & 5th; 212-752-1495.

Lupa — Special late-night dining $26 3-course prix fixe that comes with a glass of wine. Available Sun-Thurs b/t 10:30pm-midnight. Here’s the menu. Thompson b/t Houston & Bleecker; 212-982-5089.

Milos Estiatorio — Offering a $24 Restaurant Week-esque 3-course prix fixe all year long. W. 55th St b/t 6th & 7th; 212-245-7400.

Ouest – Offering 2 course-dinner for $29 or 3 course-dinner for $34 Mon-Fri before 6:30pm and after 9pm. 2315 Broadway; 212-580-8700.

Picholine — Offering the Menu d’Economie Tues-Sat in the Cheese & Wine Bar. It features dishes for $15 each; an expanded selection of Tasting Flights (three for $20) including three new dessert selections; and 60 wines priced under $60 featuring great wine producers like Chateau Beaucastel, Etienne Sauzet and Chateau Rayas. 35 W. 64th St; 212-724-8585.

    Could you recommend a good lunch place for a birthday meal? I was thinking of Milos, but afraid the coming Monday might be all booked up. Thanx.
